I know there is a Mother Hens thread, but I thought maybe one specifically for pregnancy might be in order. Report here, pregnant chickens, and those that are already mothers, please guide our crazy!

I am 4.5 weeks pregnant. I know, it's early, but still exciting! Not many people IRL know, so I want to get support here. So far I feel ok. Bloated, tired easily but not exhausted yet. I seem to wake up at about midnight with some nausea, but nothing major yet. Any tips on getting through to my 8 week appointment without worrying myself sick?

Congrats!! I went on a trip to see my best friend around that time, which did help keep my mind off the worrying. That's not really a practical tip though.

    So happy for you!

I have no advice other than just remind yourself there's likely nothing you can do at this point, anyway. Just take care of yourself and enjoy it (if possible, I was exhausted and my boobs were killing me by 5/6 weeks). Also just keep eating whatever sounds good. Have a snack before bed if you wake up queasy.

Yeah right now I'm eating whatever sounds not gross. A couple days ago I actually craved a salad, so that was good.

Today I dropped my phone and thought I was pregnant. OBGYN confirms I am not.

Congrats though! Just think happy thoughts of the second trimester!

I have already out on a few pounds, but I don't think it's diet related. Is it normal to have a lot of bloating at first? I feel huge already.
One of my patients said, "Have you put on weight?" Yes bitch, yes I have. Thanks for pointing it out like a jerk face.

My sister bloated up. I remember because we had to rush order her a new size bridesmaid dress. She hadn't told anyone she was pregnant yet, but was probably about 4-5 weeks along when that happened. I thought it was happy marriage weight. Well it was something like that.... lol

I was super bloaty the first month. I wore sweatpants every day because my jeans wouldn't fit.

Yeah, I gained 3-4 lbs right away, then nothing for a while. Now I'm starting to put on a little again.

    And by a little, I mean I'm up 10-12lbs at 20 weeks.

So, curious what you other pregnant chickens (or moms) think about these:

Necklace that broadcasts your due date (month) to anyone you see. I got one for my SIL when she was pregnant with my first niece, and she LOVED IT. Wore it from about 8 weeks on. I would never wear it, but I'm a much more private person. I was actually a little terrified that she'd get me one for Christmas. I think they're cute, and they do answer the question everyone asks once you start to really look pregnant.

I don't know if I would wear it either. I was pretty private about my pregnancy too. My mom got my sister a birthstone necklace (she was due the beginning of October) and my nephew came the 29th of September. Babies love to make you a liar with your due date.

    Re: Pregnant Chickens

I made my SIL a liar, too. :) She was due Jan 8 and niece #1 was born Dec 18. She bought her own necklace for niece #2, who was due in October (24?) but came in September (27).
I'm due June 3, so I'm sure CoolBaby will show up, you know, May 31.
I'm ok with people knowing I'm pregnant, and I'll talk about if it someone asks, but I'm just not the type to go broadcasting it, I guess. Baby will make itself obvious soon enough, I'm kind of enjoying my secret for now.

I think those necklaces are cute, but I think it would depend on the person, for actually wearing one or not

I bet CoolBaby gets the CoolBirthday of June 6th. There are at least four chickens with that birth date (including three admin).

That is when I calculated my due date as. My mother is really hoping for June 4th, as that is her birthday.

I'm so glad. Just trying to check myself and see if I'm being entirely not excited enough about this pregnancy thing or totally reasonable. I want to think reasonable but I don't trust myself lately.

ETA - wait, what happened here? Something went away.
