Welcome to this special stay-at-home edition of the Chicken Movie Challenge! This is chance to help us all escape reality. Rules are as follows: • The Challenge starts at Midnight on April 1st in your local time zone, and ends whenever we collectively decide to call it. • As always, you will receive two points for any feature film you watch for the first time, and one point for revisiting an old friend. Feature films are 45 minutes are longer. Short films are less than 45 minutes. You have a huge opportunity for short films this month. Watch five of them for two points, regardless of whether it's new to you. • This is going to be one of our most broad and subjective challenges yet. All animated films count. Anything with a Fantasy or Sci-Fi genre tag on IMDb counts. Any horror or thriller film with supernatural elements counts (tag me or @Vespidae with questions on this). Any comedy or romance with an element of magical realism counts (again, tag your friendly neighborhood admin with questions). Try to avoid dramas. We're not here to cry. • There will be bonus points! See the below categories for info on how to maximize your points potential. April Fools You can earn one bonus point for watching a movie from any of these beloved comedy teams, regardless of whether the movie has a fantastical element: • The Marx Brothers • Monty Python • Cheech and Chong • Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder • Broken Lizard You can only earn the bonus once per group, for a maximum of five points. Spring Break Need a break from movies? Your Challenge Committee has picked some of their favorite television episodes that you can watch for a single point. These won't count for the normal feature film points, but it's a fun diversion. Here are the extra-special fantastical TV episodes: • The X-Files - "The Post-Modern Prometheus" (S5E5) • Star Trek: Voyager - "Macrocosm" (S3E12) • Supernatural - "Mystery Spot" (S3E11) • Sliders - "Fever" (S1E3) • Buffy the Vampire Slayer - "Hush" (S4E10) Earth Day Watch qualifying feature-length films set in outer space for one bonus point. Movie of the Month: The Wizard of Oz Watch the 1939 classic and receive five bonus points. You can also get one additional point if you watch it on Friday, April 3 in celebration of Find a Rainbow Day. Syncing Dark Side of the Moon is optional. It won't net you any additional points, save for Cool Points. Post below to sign up and keep track of your points. Check back on this thread regularly for discussion, reviews, and updates to the Chicken Movie Club schedule as we will be hosting regular Kasts throughout the challenge.
